Much of the first day dealt with the atomic bomb and its effects.  The most poignant part of the day for Mr. V was 1) Our very diverse class coming from many places with a history of mutual animosity (Japan, America, Canada, Korea, etc.) effortlessly enjoying each others company, and 2) young Japanese students giggling and interviewing CAJ students in halting English at the foot of a statue dedicated to peace.  All this a few blocks from the "hypocenter" of the bomb.
